From Rationality to Ordered Emotionality (Affectus Ordinatus): a framework for human and artificial linguistic generation
Alessandro Amato
Abstract
This contribution reconsiders the historical evolution of the concept of rationality, from its embodied origins to its disaffectivized formalization in the twentieth century. It proposes the concept of Ordered Emotionality as a functional reformulation of the rationalist paradigm, redefining its affective presuppositions. Philophonic Logical Centering is introduced as a pre-verbal process that stabilizes affective and identity-related configurations, rendering emotional configurations logically usable in the selection of linguistic action. This process enables the Philophonic Emotional Distillate, which transforms emotion from automatic reactivity into a selective expressive resource. A pilot study (N = 8) indicates a relationship between pre-verbal stabilization and prosodic coherence. Finally, the work suggests implications for Artificial Intelligence through the integration of mechanisms of preventive affective regulation.
